CAS NO.: 10016-20-3

Synonyms: alpha-cyclodextrin, cyclohexaamylose, cyclomaltohexaose

Applications:

The hypoglycemic effects of alpha-cyclodextrin, which helps to lower the glycemic index (GI) of foods, not only benefit patients with diabetes: such foods are more slowly digested, keeping blood sugar at a stable low level, but also reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease, overweight, and diabetes through dietary supplementation.

α -cyclodextrin can also be used as a water-soluble dietary fiber in food manufacturing, such as dairy products, baked goods, oatmeal bars, breakfast cereals, etc.  It can also be used to control weight due to its positive effect on lipid levels.

α -cyclodextrin is a cyclic sugar molecule with very low viscosity and high stability, even at high temperatures and at low PH.  No Browning reaction or discoloration occurs even in complex food systems, regardless of PH.  The dissolved α -cyclodextrin is clear and odorless, so it can also be used in beverage production.

Therefore, alpha-cyclodextrin is the ideal water-soluble cellulose for use in beverages, dairy products, baked goods, granola bars and breakfast cereals.
